With the countdown to Christmas … what’s your top tip for clients to get them ready for party season?

Keep hydrated! Our alcohol consumption tends to go up this time of year so it’s important to keep drinking lots of water. Get plenty of sleep, if you’re only running on bare minimum, come Christmas Day you’ll be zonked. Make sure you make time for yourself.

We can spend the majority of our time thinking of other people around this time of year but it’s important to look after ourselves too. It can be hard to fit classes in between social engagements but plan ahead to ensure you get your dose of Pilates. Normally go to an evening class? Book yourself into one of our morning classes instead.

For someone starting out into fitness would they be better waiting until January to get moving.

Absolutely not. Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?!? If you start now come January it will already be part of your routine and will seem a whole lot less daunting.

Top tip to keep stress at bay over the holiday season

Pilates of course!!! Breathing is one of the six main principles of Pilates. Learning how to control your breath will help you deal with all the madness that Christmas brings.

Do you eat clean & healthy over Christmas or will you over indulge like the rest of us

I always try to eat a balanced diet. I don’t believe in restriction so if I really want something i will have it but try to keep to moderation. Obviously at Christmas the treats seem to be more prevalent but I do my best to plan ahead. If I know I’m meeting friends for dinner and drinks I’ll eat a little lighter during the day. But come Christmas Day I’ll have my (vegan) selection box just like everyone else.
