After spending Christmas at home in Spain with Family, I was more than ready to get back to normality and hit this challenge head on.
Feeling a bit like Bridget Jones right now, I’ll admit I over indulged over the Christmas period. Being in Spain, who can resist the lovely pintxos? Well, definitely not me!
New Year, New Me?
Week one hasn’t been as successful as I was hoping to be. New Year’s day started a little bit dazed from the previous night, so it was a write off. Having the children home didn’t help with my exercise and I only managed to fit one Reformer class with the lovely Gill (OMG I was sore for several days after). On the plus side I did more walks around my local park. Also, I had no idea that house work would burn so many calories. My house is spotless. With the kids not in their routine I found it really hard to make my own schedule. Now they are back to normality it will help me put a structure into my own day.
Food, Food, Food!
Diet-wise, Where to start?
I have managed to cut down on food intake (slightly) and started replacing the toasts (Irish bread is so nice), crackers and rice-cakes, that I would normally reach for in the middle of the day, with nuts and fresh fruit. It’s a small change but it’s definitely an improvement. We don’t normally have takeaways, so food has been fairly OK – just need to cut down a bit more and see more vegetables on my plate. I love breakfast but I know that having toast is not the right way to start the day. I’m not a porridge fan but I am going to give it a go.
I reluctantly jumped on the scales and to my surprise, they have slightly (yes slightly) come down. So at least I’m heading in the right direction. I don’t want this to be just a month so I’m starting with small achievable goals, gradually introducing some more. I know that if I go on a really strict diet, when I finish it, I’d go back to where I was at the start.
Week two will all be about getting organised. This is one of my goals from this “Transformation”, to be more organised. I’m enjoying the process so far and look forward to the next few weeks.
