Is there such a thing as the ‘perfect diet’? We interviewed four Platinum instructors: Will, Victoria, Dearbhla and Damy about their diets, and we couldn’t have expected more diverse replies. Here’s Platinum’s very own iron man Will

Hi there! Please introduce yourself, your name, your favourite hobby, your favourite colour, favourite movie, and so far, the highlight of your week.

Will, riding my bike or swimming in the pool. Colour? Wow blue maybe, movie has to be The big blue, highlight of my week was being out on my bike yesterday up on Sally Gap.

How would you describe your food personality?

I consider chicken a vegetable, meat is my fuel!

What is your favourite time of day?

I’m an early bird, catching that worm like it ain’t no thing!

Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day do you agree and what did you have for breakfast this morning?

200% yes, today I had porridge, 2 slices of bread with peanut butter, double espresso and a vitamin shake.

Salty savoury snacks for the win!

Your absolute favourite food of all time is?

South African braai or BBQ as you call it.

If you had a private chef, what types of food would they cook for you if you could have absolutely anything?

I’d love to wake up to an omelette, come home at night to a mix of stir fry to seafood paella to pasta with meatballs.

How often do you exercise in an average week

At least once a day 7 days a week.

How do you fuel up for your training, and are you training for something in particular?

I drink a lot of water but if I’m training for an ironman and doing 9-11 sessions a week then I will carry around a few sachets of dioralyte with me. After all my sessions I refuel with a dioralyte and a homemade protein and glutamine shake.

What’s always on your shopping list when you go to the supermarket? What can’t you live without?

Peanut butter, chorizo, mixed nuts and porridge.

Describe your average dinner time scenario, the food, the people the chaos?

If I’m not working late then I’ll cook. I try to mix it up as my kids don’t like what I eat, maybe fish and chips with steamed veg, or tonight I made fish cakes with sweet potatoes and carrots. Chaos? Sometimes yes, 3 kids all with different likes and dislikes… madness to be honest, but I try.

Do you do meal prep?

Hell no, whatever’s in the cupboard is what I’m eating.
