MEET HELEN SEYMOUR
Helen grew up in Howth where she continues to live. Before becoming a Pilates instructor, Helen worked in Advertising & Marketing for over 17 years, published a novel, and wrote the screenplay adaptation. She continues to write but believes that desk work is dangerous and anyone who spends long hours at a desk needs to consciously and actively move their bodies.
She has been passionate about mat and reformer Pilates for many years and decided to take it one step further and become an instructor.
“Pilates actually helps my writing. The more freely my body moves, the more freely my mind works.”
My Pilates style is… about 3 things. Strength, Stretch, and Control. I like give my clients a good overall body workout, while at the same time, really opening up their body and giving them a good stretch.
I love teaching… I took up teaching to help myself. I wanted to bullet proof my body for my later years, and I figured the best way to train at a higher level was to become a teacher. However, one of the nicest surprises about teaching is how genuinely lovely it is to be able to help people. I love watching my clients learn and grow and progress in their practice. I think maybe deep down, there has always been a teacher in me. I feel in many respects I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
